I am launching this web space to coincide with my start as a co-host on the Poker: All The Games podcast. Shawn Grigas asked me to join him to talk about some of the games he is less familiar with, and I am really excited to have this opportunity to talk about those games.
My aim is simply to build mixed games. They are the most fun you can have at a poker table and for me they are still pure poker - something I see as an art, not a science that can be solved. And the people who play mixed games are the best.
By mixed games I mean poker games that are anything but No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em. I heard on a podcast a couple of days ago that there will be a real-time solver on the market later this year for Hold ‘Em. Who would want to play that game, particularly online, when you don’t know if your opponents are using such a tool?
And just to give some idea of my authenticity as a mixed games poker player, I play as Owl4Ever on PokerStars and took down TWO small stakes tournaments last night, in TWO different variants… Seven Card Stud, and Pot Limit Badugi (Progressive KO)
Not the highest of stakes, and the stud tournament saw me pay for four entries (!) but it was nice to get a timely ego boost when I was just considering setting up this substack page.
I can’t promise how often I will update this page, but I will try to do something pretty frequently to document my mixed games poker journey. Hit the subscribe button to keep up to date
